Gartang Gali is located at a distance of 90km from Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It was built 150 years ago. It is 136m long wooden stairways elevated at a height of 11,000 feet. Peashwar pathans were the real makers behind this route. . This was damaged in 1962 due to indo-china war. This wooden bridge was a trade route between India and Tibet.

Below this hanging stairway rushes the Jadh Ganga. This offers the picturesque view of Nelong valley, Lanka bridge, blue sheep, snow leopard, flora & fauna.

After a 2.5 km trek through dense deodar & pine forest opens up into Gartang Gali bridge. China border lie close to The border of Nelong valley in uttarkashi.
Reinnovation of Gartang Gali bridge
This architectural masterpiece was opened to the tourist & visitors in 2021 after 59 years. The reinnovation work of Gartang Gali bridge was started in September 2020 and completed in July 2021. It was very challenging to reinnovate such hanging bridge at 110,00feet. The labour used to tie themselves with safety ropes while repairing the bridge. The reinnovation of the bridge costs around rs 65 lakh. Within one week of opening, Gartang Gali gain popularity among tourist and adventure lovers.
