Bagori - A beautiful village in Uttarakhand
Bagori is a small ,beautiful village located on the banks of river Bhagirathi at Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Bagori village is famous for its beautiful and unique landscape. The village is fully occupied by the Bhotiya people. The wooden houses are common here. This village is famous for it's amazing and scenic views. This beautiful village is just 1 km away from famous hill station "Harsil Valley". Bagori village is awarded as the " Best Ganga Village for overall development" in 2019.
How to reach Bagori Village?
The nearest airport to Bagori village is in Dehradun . Thereafter there in no air service to Bagori village. One has to either opt for a taxi or a bus in order to reach Bagori. From uttarakshi there is no bus service . One has to take a taxi from Taxi stand at Uttarkashi.
The distance from dehradun to Bagori (Harsil Valley) is about 270kms. The road map from Dehradun to Bagori goes something like this :-

Why to visit Bagori?
From harsil onwards, one has to pass through three small bridges to reach Bagori . The first thing,you will notice is a long alleyway with wooden houses on the either side of the alley. The wooden houses are lined perfectly just one after another . The wooden houses are made on the either side of the main alley. The length of the alley is somewhere around 800m. One can access the beautiful village through this alleyway. The tradition of the people is also somewhat different from others.
They mostly wear the woollen clothes. They are masters in hand woven woollen clothes and they also sell their handmade clothes at affordable prices. The people of Bagori village are simple and down to earth. This village has a historic importance. They were the residents of Nelong valley. They used to trade between Tibet and India.Due to conflict between India & China, they were brought down & settled in Bagori.
The hand crafted wooden houses in Bagori village are of great interest. These wooden houses are an excellent example of architectural mastery. This village has Tibetan Monastery and Lal devta temple adjacent to each other. The alleyway is used by the people of Bagori village to sell their hand made clothes.

3. Seven Lakes Dharali :- Cluster of seven lakes at Dharali village. Just a 3.5 km upward trek from Dharali village.
4. Mukhba village :- . One can visit this village and Goddes Ganga temple in winters . Just 2 km away from Bagori village.
5 . Cholmi village :- Cholmi is a small village located in Harsil Valley. This village is famous for apple orchards and skii destination. It is just 3km away from Bagori village. No motorable road to this village.
Best time to visit bagori village
During winters there are no people in Bagori village. From the months of Mar- Nov, the village is full of residents. But the village is accessible the whole year. If you want to experience the live snow, months of Dec - Feb are the best. During summer one can feel the experience of apple orchards, rajma and greenery. You can meet people during summers and, can gather the information about them, their tradition, their way of living etc. Overall thing goes like :-
From Nov - March :- No residents, Door locked, Gusty winds, Dormant apple season and snow.
From April - Oct :- Village full of residents, Apple season, Rajma, Greenery and No snow.
Nearest Helipad
There are two helipads in Harsil valley. One lies just sideways to Bagori village and the other one is 2km away from the village. The helipad that lies sideways to the village is used by the army. The other one is used as a private helipad. Therefore if you're planning a tour through heli service. You can go for it.
Main Occupation :-
Residents of the village mostly depends upon the Apple , Rajma farming and hand made woollen clothes. They sell their hand made products in their shops at harsil valley, uttarkashi, dunda and Bagori village itself. Their products reflects the originality and quality. They are perfect and affordable too. Some of the most famous hand made woollen clothes includes : Sweater, beanies, gloves, socks and jackets.
Trek route for : Kyarkoti & Lamkhanga Pass
Bagori village offers trek route to beautiful kyarkoti lake trek and trickiest lamkhanga pass. Kyarkoti is a beautiful valley with amazing scenic landscapes. Whereas the trek route to Lamkhanga pass starts from Bagori village and ends at Chitkul in Himachal pradesh. Lamkhanga pass is a connecting link between Harsil valley of Uttarakhand and Chitkul village of Himachal Pradesh. Kyarkoti lake trek is for beginners and Lamkhanga pass trek is for highly experienced trekkers.

There are many option to stay in Bagori village. In recent, there are number of homestays in Bagori village offering the best facilities for tourists. They are affordable and provides the scenic view of the valley. The people of the village migrate to their second home "Dunda" (Uttarkashi) in winter season. And the village remain closed during the winters. Therefore it's quite hard to find stays in Bagori village but one can opt to stay at harsil valley (as few of the hotels and homestays are open during the winters) .
