                         KEDARTAL 

 Kedartal is a beautiful glacial lake situated at an altitude of 4700m. It is one of the highest shiva lake surrounded by Mt. Thaley Sagar , Mt. Brighupant, Manda parvat & Mt. Jogin. It is 14km away from Gangotri. The lake is the source of Kedarganga which in Hindu mythology is considered to be Shiva's contribution to Bhagirathi.

How to reach Kedartal? 

Dehradun - Uttarkashi - Gangotri 

• Acclimatization at Gangotri (base) 

    Kedartal is a very hard trek. It is a high altitude trek. So acclimatization of the body is necessary. Take a short trail up one of the trail around gangotri. 

 Trek to Kedartal 

1. Acclimatize at the base camp (Gangotri). 

2. Gangotri to Bhojkharak : The terrain is rocky and hard. Steep ascent all the way. 

3. Bhojkharak to kedarkharak : The trail is rocky and hard in many parts. Steep ascent all the way.The trail somewhere is hard to find. 

4. Kedarkhark to Kedartal : ascending trail over a Rocky terrain, offers amazing landscapes and blue sheep. 

                       

How difficult is Kedartal trek ? 

• This trek comes under moderate - hard trek . 

• This trek is mentally - physically challenging. 

• Must carry water bottles, less source of water. 

• The trail is Rocky and hard, must wear high ankle trekking shoes. 

• Spider wall : there are two spider walls on the way which make it very difficult to go through.

Blue sheep : Blue sheep can be seen in Kedarkharak, they are shy in nature. 

Thaley sagar & Brighupant : Thaley sagar & Brighupant can be seen directly from kedartal. 

Snow leopard : sometimes snow leopard can be seen in kedartal. A promising number of snow leopard can be spotted. 

Mountains : the snowy mountain experiences heavy snowfall which can be seen during the trek
