Mangwachu Trek | Mukhba Village - Trek Tips
Mangwachu is a hidden gem in Mukhba village. It is an upward trek of about 12kms. The route takes one through beautiful deoadar and pine forest. It is an excellent trek for beginners and nature lovers.

The trek offers beautiful view of snowcapped himalayan peaks. This place is mostly used by the cattle grazzers during summer season. This trek is mainly famous for its lake.
How to reach?
Dehradun-Uttarkashi-Harsil-Mukhba
Dehradun to Uttarkashi :- from dehradun you can either opt for bus or a taxi. The journey from dehradun to uttarkashi is around 5-6 hours.
Uttarkashi to Harsil:-
There is usually no bus service from uttarkashi to harsil. You can look up for taxi service at taxi stand near bhatwari road, uttarkashi. Taxi usually takes 3hrs to reach harsil.
Harsil to mukhba village:-
Mukhba is just 1.5 away from harsil valley. You can book a taxi to mukhba . You need to have a proper identity card as the road makes its way through the military camp area.
Any pass for mangwachu trek?
You don't need any pass for mangwachu trek. But you'll have to make sure not to dispose the litter in an open area. Keep the environment clean while trekking.

What is mangwachu trek famous for?
Mangwachu trek is still a less-known trek. It is a beautiful hidden gem in Mukhba village of Uttarkashi district. It is great place for nature lover and for those who are in search of peace.
Mangwachu Lake :- mangwachu lake is famous for its strange vibration. The lake vibrate whenever you bawl nearby. It looks like the water in the lake is boiling. It is believed that whenever the village face dry spell the residents of mukhba village used to worship the lake.The water in the lake is a symbol of purity & Divinity.

Cattle grazzers :- The residents of nearby village graze their cattle here. During summer season this place has lush green carpet. Cattle resides here from april-sept. During winters, residents carry back their cattle to home.
Beautiful snowcapped mountains:- this trek offers beautiful peaks. This trek is said to offer breathtaking view of harshil horn, Mt. Shrikanth, Jhinda bughal & many more peak.

Activities & bonfires :- mangwachu trek is best for camping. It offers a 360° view of a beautiful landscape. There is greeny all over during Summer. The shepherds are widespread here. The basecamp has stream flowing sideways.
How to do the trek?
Mangwachu is a 13kms long trek offering beautiful landscapes. Once you reach harsil, stay there for atleast one day to acclimatize. Do a short trek , you can opt for Lama trek nearby harshil valley. The trek starts from Mukhba village.
The first base camp for mangwachu trek is at mukhba village.
The second base camp for mangwachu trek is at nangni.
If you're good at trekking, you can reach your desitination the same day. If you're a beginner or not good at trekking you must hault at Nangni base camp. The trek level ranges from Easy to moderate. Must take first aid box with you, there are high chances of leg cramps as the trail is tough somewhere with patches of stones.
Best time to the trek?
April-August is the best time to do the trek. Many varieties of flower can be seen here during this time period. Bramhakamal, state flower of Uttarakhand can be seen here.
